Be sure to read this overview and important information, including application information, about outcomes for graduate students in the master of education in teacher leadership degree program.

TEACHER LEADERSHIP

At ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, the MEd in Teacher Leadership degree is designed to help teachers strengthen instructional skills while developing leadership abilities for such roles as peer coach, mentor, department chairs, staff development leaders, or curriculum coordinators.

The Teacher Leadership master's program may be completed partially online. Some courses are offered on campus, or in partnership with local districts and schools. Consult the Time Schedule for specific offerings. Many courses may employ hybrid delivery strategies.

Professional Certification and the MEd in Teacher Leadership

Some of the coursework for the Washington State Professional Certificate may be completed at SPU and count toward the MEd in Teacher Leadership. The only planning requirement is that no more than 6 credits at the 5000-level may be applied toward the degree.

Due to the focus of the MEd in Teacher Leadership degree in the K–12 school systems, it is required that you have completed an approved program for Teacher Certification prior to enrollment.

Portfolio

In addition to course requirements, you are required to create a Portfolio over the course of the program. These requirements will be integrated into coursework as much as possible.

You will present your Portfolio to a panel of professors, administrators, and peers at the completion of the program.
