Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Search

Position Details

The position of Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) is mandated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in Bylaw 6.1.3, with functions mostly to be defined by each institution (Bylaw 8.1.3). The FAR is "a member of an institution's faculty or administrative staff who is designated by the institution's president or chancellor or other appropriate entity to represent the institution and its faculty in the institution's relationships with the NCAA and its conference" (Bylaw 21.02.1; see also Bylaw 8.1.3). The Faculty Athletic Representative:

  • is part of the campus Athletics Leadership Team.
  • is appointed by and reports to chancellor.
  • advises on institutional compliance, academic integrity, student health, wellness, academic success of NCAA Division I Athletes.
  • holds a four-year position (secondary administration appointment w/possibility of a second four-year term).
  • is advisory to the director of athletics, the athletics senior woman administrator, and other athletics and campus personnel.
  • receives a stipend and reduced teaching load.
  • must have been a member of the CU «Ƶ faculty senate for four years.
