Boom-X
Project Topic: Small Satellite Deployable Booms for Magnetosphere Testing
Description: Team Boom-X is designing a boom system capable of carrying a magnetometer to be integrated into a CubeSat. The primary mission objective is to successfully deploy the boom to position the magnetometer away from the satellite body to accurately measure the Earth’s magnetic field in Earth’s orbit. Boom-X will use a 1-meter deployable boom to ensure the instrument operates in a low-noise environment, and will develop software for boom deployment control, magnetometer data acquisition, attitude control, and system health monitoring.
