Multirotor Autonomous Lightweight Low Altitude Retardant Drone (MALLARD)
Project Topic: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for Fire Mitigation
Description: The MALLARD project aims to apply an unmanned aerial system (UAS) for wildfire mitigation, driven by the destructive wildfires that have impacted ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, Colorado in recent years. The challenging conditions often seen along the front range create a need for a flexible and rapid system that can be deployed in environments where human personnel and heavy equipment cannot be used. The primary mission objective is to develop MALLARD, a UAS which aims to help combat these wildfires as efficiently and safely as possible. MALLARD will be capable of autonomously delivering fire retardant to specified locations, assisting in the control of wildfires.
