During the fall of 1988 with the assistance of the CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Alumni Association, a group of graduates came together for the purpose of beginning an association. The Black Alumni Organization, as it was initially called, wanted to assist the university in its recruitment and retention for Black students, faculty and staff, to raise monies for scholarships and other financial aid, and to increase the involvement of Black alumni on the campus.
