Mara Mintzer, program director for Growing Up ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, will speak at  Nov. 11 at the  in Denver.  Mintzer is among 18 finalists out of an applicant pool of around 1,700.

Although speakers are not allowed to divulge the exact content of their speeches, Mintzer said her talk will be related to her current work at Growing Up ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, where she helps integrate children and youth voices into ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's city planning.

"At Growing Up ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, we challenge adults, undergraduates, youth and children to work together and listen to each other," Mintzer says. "I want people to realize how capable children and youth are at shaping the world around them. Working with low-income children and youth, I've been amazed by how insightful and creative young people are."
