Our goal is to create a space where graduate students’ perspectives are at the forefront, fostering a rich, collaborative dialogue. This event encourages reflection, connection, and the exchange of insights among graduate students, faculty, staff, and administrators. By listening to and learning from one another, we aim to deepen our understanding of the graduate student experience and explore ways to support and enrich it moving forward.Ìý
Ìý
Faculty and staff are invited to participate by engaging in these conversations, listening to student voices, and contributing to a shared vision of growth and mutual support in the graduate community.Ìý

Questions & Discussion Topics

  • How can the university and departments better financially support arts and humanities graduate students?
  • What non-scholarly resources would be helpful for arts and humanities graduate students to feel like they belong?
  • How can the university and departments prepare arts and humanities graduate students for careers outside of academia?
  • What concerns do graduate students have about the state of the arts and humanities on college campuses?
  • Based on the survey results, what specific outcomes would you like to see administrators take to better serve graduate students?

Grad Student Survey Results

Along with our graduate student conversation hosts, the event topics and discussion questions will also be influenced by the results of a Fall 2024 survey, in which the CHA received 88 responses from arts and humanities graduate students at CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. In this survey, we asked students how anxious they were about their career prospects, what career industry they would like to puruse, and if they have any suggestions on how to better their graduate school experience.Ìý

Reflecting on the survey results and the responses, which can be found here, there may be more discussion on how to better support our graduate students in the arts and humanities. You can read more about the survey results and find additional resources for graduate students on our Resources for Humanities & Arts Graduate Students page.
