Homecoming 2019

On Friday, Nov. 8, we’ll look back to tradition and forward to the future of media, communication and information.

During the day, CMCI’s Media Archaeology Lab and Immersive Media Lab will be open for tours.

  • The —which is, as far as we know, the largest of its kind in North America—is a place for hands-on, cross-disciplinary experimental research, teaching and artistic practice using still-functioning but obsolete tools, software, hardware, platforms from the late nineteenth century through the twenty first century.  MAL currently houses over 35 portables/laptops, 73 desktop computers, 22 handheld devices, eight other computing devices, and 10 game consoles. Tours will be offered from noon to 3 p.m.
  • The Immersive Media Lab features a teaching/presentation area and four technology workstations. Each station includes hardware and software for creating and showcasing virtual reality, augmented reality and 360-degree experiences. Explore virtual reality from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

In the evening, join us for our Homecoming Happy Hour.

Celebrate with us before the Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally. You’ll have a chance to meet Dean Lori Bergen and CMCI faculty while reconnecting with fellow alumni and friends and enjoying refreshments and drinks. Campus alcohol policy mandates that all attendees must RSVP in advance for the reception. Please contact us prior to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, for more information on how to register for our happy hour.
