Christy Dale Maurer (formerly Sims)Ìýearned a PhD in Communication, and a graduate certificate in Women and Gender Studies, from the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. The courses she teaches always aim to connect course concepts to our everyday lives, particularly in relation to equity, identities, and culture.
As Director of Online Programs, Sims works in conjunction with instructional designers developing online pedagogy resources for the department, assisting graduate students and faculty with online teaching, and shaping standards for the department’s new online degree completion program. She regularly teaches online, having done so since 2009.
Prior to this appointment, Sims was Program Manager for HERS (Higher Education Resource Services), a nonprofit organization committed to leadership development for women working in higher education. Before that she was a teacher-scholar at University of Denver and James Madison University. Sims’s work appears in Rhetoric and Public Affairs, Review of Communication, Communication Teacher, Communication CurrentsÌýand the Journal of Emotional Abuse.ÌýÌý Ìý
