Ever Josue Figueroa is an assistant professor in the Department of Journalism at the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ.

His research interests focus on media representations of race and gender, media sociology, and sports communication. In particular, he analyzes the intersection of race, gender and class in sports media and journalism culture. Dr. Figueroa specializes in qualitative methods, including textual analysis, critical discourse analysis, ethnography and in-depth interviewing. His peer-reviewed journal articles have been published in New Media & Society, Journalism, Howard Journal of Communications, Critical Studies in Media Communication and Feminist Media Studies.

Dr. Figueroa received his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. He’s also a lifetime member of Kappa Tau Alpha, an honor society for journalism and mass communication.

Dr. Figueroa is the son of immigrant parents from El Salvador and grew up in South Houston, Texas. His hobbies include playing with his dog Scruffy, cycling, hiking, and most recently, drone photography. He also owns an extensive retro video game collection and is an avid esports fan.
