The Rehearsal Artist

Michelle Ellsworth

NOW β€” January 2018Μύ

In β€œThe Rehearsal Artist,” a new work by CU ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ dance professor Michelle Ellsworth, the artist rotates inside an eight-foot-diameter wooden wheel. The audience sees only her head, encased in a box with an assortment of loose items β€” dolls, food, tiny furniture, plants. Ellsworth is fixed in position, but the objects all move, prompting reflection about β€œthe nature of stability.”

The New York Times proclaimed the work, performed at the American Realness festival in New York in January, β€œeccentric and marvelously original.”
