Photo of the Week: Flatirons Digital Art

A digital illustration of the Flatirons against an orange sky.

Every ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ite knows the beauty of sunset over the Flatirons. As ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣơ’s beloved icon, the mountains are inspiration for all types of art, music and even tattoos.

The illustration above, created by illustrator and graphic designer Charlie Hoesly (Anth’17), was a private commission for a fellow alum who wanted a piece that featured the Flatirons. Hoesly creates art pieces that he says are interpretations of things he is passionate about β€” β€œlike animals, nature and ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ (Sko Buffs).” He tries to create β€œintricate illustrations using simple layered shapes,” which is a process he notes he honed in the printmaking department at CU.
