Aerospace Systems Engineer | Maxar Technologies

Current city: Washington, D.C.

My career path: After graduating from CU in the spring of 2020 (in the midst of COVID), I moved across the country to the east coast to start working at Raytheon Intelligence & Space. My role focused mainly in the area of software test and integration, but I also supported additional projects focused on utilizing natural language processing machine learning algorithms. During my time at Raytheon, I started pursuing a Masters in Space Systems Engineering to further my knowledge and expertise in my industry. After being in this role for just under two years, I decided I wanted to pursue opportunities that are closer aligned with my degree(s) and interest in space. I joined Maxar in the spring of 2022 working in the Aerospace Engineering Programs division, and have been able to focus my work on a variety of projects supporting DoD and IC customers. My primary role focuses on implementing unique theoretical orbital trajectories, but I also provide systems engineering assistance to a variety of other programs and assist with the company's internship program.

My interest in being a Regional Network Ambassador: I am interested in being a Regional Network Ambassador because I wasn't aware of the alumni network when I moved across the country during COVID, and I believe it would have made that transition much easier. I hope that participating as a RNA will allow me to help recent graduates and other alumni in their relocations by giving advice or even just being a friend in the area
