Michaele听Ferguson, associate professor of political theory, will present on 鈥淩eacting to the Past鈥濃�攁 pedagogy using immersive role-playing听games grounded in historical听contexts and classic texts. For example, students have one kind of relationship to Rousseau's Social Contract when they read it in a traditional way, but quite another when they have to debate its merits as Jacobins and conservative aristocrats in 1791! Professor Ferguson will talk about the benefits of using these games in classes, will walk participants through a sample game, and will discuss games that are used at colleges and universities around the country in English courses.
