Student Work
- Under Ferguson Pyatt’s mentorship, fourth year architecture student Masani Salazar designed and constructed a three-bedroom floorplan prototype model at an 8-inch scale, mirroring the Taos Pueblo’s traditional style of architecture. She hopes that by designing housing that is familiar and comfortable, built out of adobe or similar material and following traditional architectural styles, more people will choose to stay in the community.
- As part of an independent study course, the students working on the project have spent the summer retrofitting ENVD 134A: installing new carpet tiles to mitigate sound reflection, adding updated lighting systems and constructing floor-to-ceiling shelving units built to accommodate and showcase the variety of design materials.
- Over the summer, a hard-working group of faculty, staff and students spent months updating studio spaces in both the basement and eastern wing of the third floor.
- In spring 2023, four students submitted work to the Milan Affordable Housing Challenge, a design competition part of the Buildner’s architecture competition series. The series is aimed at addressing the global housing crisis and redefining urban living.
- The Environmental Design First Year Experience (FYE) Program completed a legacy project and brightened up the first-year studios with fun, geometric murals, now nicknamed “The Underground.”
- Environmental Design student Ben Harris and lecturer Brielle Killip participated in the Denver Paper Fashion Show last week.
- Last week, CU «Ƶ hosted the 2023 Climate Action Expo, where students from various schools and colleges showcased climate solution projects.
- Six student projects are on display at the Art Parts Creative Reuse Center, a «Ƶ non-profit creative reuse center.
- The Open House is a building-wide exhibition of design and research produced by students and faculty during the fall semester.
- Congratulations to this year's Latin Honors recipients.
