Leah Powers received her PhD and MA in French Literature from the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, a Certificate in College Teaching from CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, and her BA from Miami University of Ohio. Currely she is a lecturer for three literature courses while also working to develop her dissertation into a book. Her current research explores the changing relationships between humans and nonhumans throughout nineteenth-century France and how this is represented in literature and visual art. Her research and teaching interests include animal and ecological studies, Realism and the novel, critical theory, Indigenous literature, and Food Studies. She is particularly interested in the intersections of science, art, and nature. Her article entitled "Between Science and Sorcery: Reimagining Human and Animal Relationality in George Sand's La Petite Fadette" is forthcoming in the fall issue of Nineteenth-Century French Studies.
