The Board of Regents has approved a MA/ BA-MA program in Russian Studies! Congratulations to all Russian faculty and students!

From the Board’s news: “The board approved a new master of arts in a Russian studies degree program for the «Ƶ campus. The new interdisciplinary program, which will be housed in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures, will prepare students for careers associated with Russia in such fields as politics, military, security, education, international business and jobs at agencies of the federal government while raising students’ level of Russian language proficiency. This new program is the only one of its kind in Colorado and the Rocky Mountains”.

The 18-month degree focuses on Russian culture and language. Students can also earn the degree with a concurrent five-year bachelor's and master's degree program.

"The goal includes developing high-level cultural competence that is critical for careers associated with Russia," said Laura Olson Osterman, an associate professor and Russian faculty adviser, during a regents meeting earlier this year. "We will do this by acquainting students with the main trends and phenomena of Russian culture from the 19th to 21st centuries." (Daily Camera, September 10, 2015)
