German PhD candidate Sayalee Karkare has been awarded听the Florence Husted Lowe and F. Rex Lowe Dissertation Fellowship听by听the Arts and Humanities Dissertation Fellowship Selection Committee. Sayalee was selected听from a highly competitive pool of applicants from all the arts and humanities departments on campus.听 In听2018-19,听Sayalee will be working on her pioneering dissertation project,听tentatively titled听Gentle Subversion: The Art of the Essay Film,听which is devoted to the essay form in contemporary literature and cinema and features, as a visual complement to the textual component, also the production of her own essay film.听Sayalee has also been awarded a听Provost's Fellowship for the Libraries for spring 2018 to produce a short film on Norlin Library.听Congratulations, Sayalee, on听these remarkable achievements!
