There you will find a&nbsp;</span><a href="/information-technology/ai-cu-boulder/ai-tools-list" rel="nofollow"><span>listing of enterprise-level tools that include AI capability</span></a><span> which have been vetted and approved by CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. Most of the tools are available to all faculty, staff and students, and all but a few are approved for use only with public data. You can also find&nbsp;</span><a href="/information-technology/ai-cu-boulder/resources-guidance" rel="nofollow"><span>information about the technology that powers AI tools and the university’s policies that govern and guide the use of AI tools and data</span></a><span>.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Faculty and staff are encouraged to join campus conversations and workshops that dive into the use of AI spanning academic, research and administrative operations. The&nbsp;</span><a href="/information-technology/ai-cu-boulder/ai-efforts-campus#aicop" rel="nofollow"><span>CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ AI community of practice</span></a><span> is open to faculty and staff that have interest or expertise in the field of artificial intelligence. Some of you are also interested in being involved in the campus’s discussions and working groups devoted to defining the future of AI on our campus. There are a number of ways to plug into these activities and resources.</p><h5>AI syllabus statements</h5><p>First, creating clarity about what is or is not acceptable AI use within a course and how best to address that succinctly on a syllabus statement is top of mind for many faculty. The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Faculty Assembly (BFA) &amp; Center for Teaching &amp; Learning (CTL) Working Group is currently creating sample syllabus statements across disciplines addressing AI and classroom expectations. The CTL provides <a href="/center/teaching-learning/teaching-resources/teaching-learning-age-ai" rel="nofollow">resources for teaching and learning the age of AI</a> including a <a href="/center/teaching-learning/node/1446/attachment" rel="nofollow">guide to crafting an AI syllabus statement (Word doc)</a>.&nbsp;</p><h5>AI Strategic Steering Committee and Community of Practice</h5><p>To provide coordination and thoughtful implementation of AI at CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, Chief Information Officer Marin Stanek, Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Massimo Ruzzene, and Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Assessment Katherine Eggert, as executive sponsors, formed a campus-wide AI strategic steering committee in the spring of 2024. The committee includes representation from teaching and learning, research, and administrative and operational domains on the CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus. The committee’s work to date has included creation of the <a href="/information-technology/artificial-intelligence-cu-boulder" rel="nofollow">AI at CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ website</a>, identifying AI tools for campus use and organizing an AI showcase highlighting the use of AI from across campus. <a href="/information-technology/ai-cu-boulder/ai-efforts-campus#aicommittee" rel="nofollow">Learn more about the committee and their work</a>.</p><p>The AI Community of Practice, which has three interest groups for research, teaching and learning, and administration and operations, is open to all CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ faculty and staff. The Community of Practice’s role includes sharing resources and effective practices while helping inform campus AI norms and guidelines. <a href="/information-technology/ai-cu-boulder/ai-efforts-campus#aicop" rel="nofollow">Learn more about the AI Community of Practice and how to join</a>.</p><h5>AI tools and guidance</h5><p>In addition, we are diligently evaluating and vetting potential Generative AI tools for academic and research use, ensuring that we balance these advancements with data security best practices. You can <a href="/information-technology/ai-cu-boulder/ai-tools-list" rel="nofollow">learn more about these tools and the approved levels of data to use with these tools on the AI Tools List page</a>. The <a href="/information-technology/ai-cu-boulder/resources-guidance" rel="nofollow">AI Resources &amp; Guidance page</a> includes resources to help understand the difference between public and private models of AI-powered tools leveraging large language models (LLMs), university data classification levels, AI hallucinations and bias, and much more. The <a href="/center/teaching-learning/teaching-resources/teaching-learning-age-ai" rel="nofollow">CTL also provides guidance on the implications of AI in teaching and learning</a>.&nbsp;</p><h5>AI workshops and events</h5><p>The CTL and ASSETT frequently provide <a href="https://calendar.colorado.edu/event/aicop" rel="nofollow">workshops and seminars focused on the use of AI in teaching and learning</a>.
