The Program in Jewish Studies is an academic, degree-granting program at the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. Open to students of all backgrounds, Jewish and non-Jewish, PJS’s mission is to provide students with an outstanding, interdisciplinary, liberal arts education in Jewish history, literature, language, and culture. The Program fosters critical thought, engages students in professional development opportunities, and instills a keen appreciate of humankind’s interrelatedness and diversity. PJS also engages both the CU and external communities through extra-curricular programming, events, and projects aimed at furthering intellectual engagement in Jewish Studies topics. Further, the Program is deeply committed to the encouragement and development of faculty research and teaching.
Overview of Job Duties:Ìý
The Program in Jewish Studies (PJS) seeks an Instructor in Jewish Studies. This 1.0 FTE position will consist of a normal teaching load of up to eight courses per academic year. The instructor may be required to teach the following classes:
The instructor will also have the ability to propose new courses.
The instructor will be responsible for completing all teaching requirements, including preparing and executing courses, grading, and holding office hours.ÌýÌýIn some semesters, the instructor may have the assistance of a Graduate Assistant, whose work in grading and teaching, the instructor will oversee.
Service may include (but is not limited to): attending faculty meetings, serving on PJS committees, planning events and student programming.
The instructor may be eligible to be promoted to Senior Instructor within three years, depending on previous experience and performance in position. The first three years of teaching service will count toward Senior Instructorship.
SALARY: $44,000 - $48,000
