Internship Job Description: BUENO Center Intern

Position Title: Intern Organization: BUENO Center for Multicultural Education Location: Miramontes Baca Education Building (3rd floor) Duration: January 2025-May 2025 Hours: 60 hours throughout the semester or 3 credits at 144 hours

the BUENO Center: The BUENO Center for Multicultural Education is dedicated to advancing educational equity for bilingual learners and communities, with a focus on Latinx populations. We work collaboratively with educators, community organizations, and stakeholders to promote culturally relevant pedagogy and improve educational outcomes.

Internship Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate student intern to join our team at the BUENO Center. This internship offers hands-on experience in community engagement, oral history capture, and support for educational initiatives related to Latinx communities. The intern will play a vital role in supporting various activities, including the documentation of oral histories, community events, and professional learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture and Transcribe Oral Histories:ÌýConduct and interviews and record oral histories from community members to preserve and share their stories and experiences, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in documenting narratives.
  • Website Migration for the Chicano Latino History Project: Assisting in migration of Chicano & Latino History Project website images and videos into a modified, unified website. Includes databasing, web design & graphic design, will get support and training from our web designer (do not need to possess these skills prior.)
  • Community Events Support:ÌýAssist in the planning, organization, and execution of community events, including logistics and participant coordination.
  • Los Seis Educational Events:ÌýHelp facilitate Los Seis educational events, which aim to promote cultural awareness and engagement within the community.
  • BESO Support:ÌýCollaborate with the BESO (Bilingual Education Student Organization) club to support their initiatives and activities focused on bilingual education.
  • Professional Learning Support:ÌýAssist in the preparation and delivery of professional learning sessions for educators and community members focused on bilingual education and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Logistical Assistance:ÌýHelp with logistical components for various events and initiatives, including materials preparation and communication with participants.

Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student
  • Strong interest in bilingual education, cultural equity, and community engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
