- Zak Yacoob, a former justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa and anti-apartheid activist, will deliver the ninth annual John Paul Stevens Lecture virtually at noon MT on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020. Justice Yacoob is the first international justice to present the Stevens Lecture, which is free and open to the public. Justice Yacoob will share his thoughts on the role of the courts, social justice, and racial equality.
- To commemorate the life and legacy of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Sept. 18, 2020, the University of Colorado Law School’s Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law held a virtual discussion with Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser and Colorado Supreme Court Justice Melissa Hart.
- Douglas Spencer, an election law scholar whose research addresses the role of prejudice and racial attitudes in voting rights litigation, has joined the University of Colorado Law School’s Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law as a distinguished faculty fellow for the 2020-21 academic year.

- Scholars and legal practitioners from across the country gathered virtually on April 3, 2020, for the University of Colorado Law School’s 28th annual Ira C. Rothgerber Jr. Conference. This year’s conference marked the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment and considered the continuing fight to secure voting rights, political representation for all, and women’s empowerment.

The fireside-chat style event was moderated by Provost Professor of Civil Rights Law and Director of the White Center Suzette Malveaux.
