Undergraduate Students
- Natalie Anderson is an undergraduate student in mechanical engineering. She interned with Ball Aerospace during summer 2022.
- Daniel Alzamora and Kendall Shepherd are undergraduate students in mechanical engineering. They interned with EveryDropMeters during summer 2022.
- A group of mechanical engineering students at the College of Engineering and Applied Science designed and built the prototype with Lockheed Martin for their Senior Design project.
- Ahmed Ashmaig (MechEngr'23), the president of CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), has received the university's Ripple Award. The award is given by the CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's Center for Inclusion and Social Change in collaboration with the Dennis Small Cultural Center.
- Students learn how solid and fluid mechanics play a role in how cancer cells interact and form solid tumors. Taught by Professor Maureen Lynch, the class examines the experimental systems and technical evaluations of the disease to model and test cancer-related processes.
- Four graduating undergraduate students won college awards, while three undergraduate students were honored with Department of Mechanical Engineering Awards.
- The global shortage of semiconductors – the computer chips that products such as smartphones, laptops, cars and even washing machines rely on – are motivating engineers to improve the inspection of the silicon wafers that semiconductors are fabricated from. To help accomplish that, Department of Mechanical Engineering students have built a silicon wafer center-finding improvement device
- The seniors are working with Medtronic to design a soft robot that would give physicians more control as they examine the deepest part of a patient's lung and make the procedure less abrasive for the patient.
- Since August 2021, more than 200 mechanical engineering students have been working through the design process from start to finish and have engineered solutions to real-world problems.Â
- The students' device makes the disposal of scrap metal safer and more efficient. They completed the design as part of their Senior Design project sponsored by Accu-Precision, a Littleton-based manufacturer of custom parts for customers in aerospace and industrial sectors.
