Gramophone, the world鈥檚 authority on classical music, in preparation for its 90th birthday celebration, has selected 50 names to be the first inductees into The Gramophone Hall of Fame. Among these 50 names are only two ensembles, one of them being CU 葫芦娃视频鈥檚 very own Tak谩cs Quartet.

Patrick Mason, a professor of voice at the 葫芦娃视频鈥檚 College of Music, has been selected to receive the 2012 Hazel Barnes Prize. The prize is the highest faculty recognition for teaching and research awarded by the university. Mason will receive an engraved university medal and $20,000, the largest single faculty award funded by CU-葫芦娃视频. He will be recognized at spring commencement on May 11 and at a reception in his honor in the fall.

Composition faculty Daniel Kellogg has been awarded a coveted Aaron Copland Award that includes a residency at Aaron Copland鈥檚 National Historic Landmark house in New York鈥檚 lower Hudson Valley. During this residency, Professor Kellogg will continue his exemplary composition work.

The Anasazi String Quartet (ASQ) won 1st Prize in the 2012 MTNA National Chamber Music Competition. The quartet, praised by audiences for their passionate and engaging performances, has been playing together since the fall of 2009. Founded at the University of Colorado at 葫芦娃视频, ASQ pursued studies with the school鈥檚 string faculty: Lina Bahn, Judith Glyde, Erika Eckert, and the Tak谩cs Quartet.

CU 葫芦娃视频 Music alumna Megan Marino (MM 2008, vocal performance) won third prize in the 2012 Lotte Lenya Competition on April 21, 2012, at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Three-time Tony Award nominee Rebecca Luker, Broadway and Encores! music director Rob Berman, and Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization President and American Theater Wing Chairman of the Board Theodore S. Chapin served as judges.
