Story Ideas

  • Lead, Innovate, Impact: As tomorrow's leaders, these students will innovate in ways we can’t begin to imagine. Think of the technologies developed over the past 20-30 years–mobile phones, Internet, laptop computers–everyday things we can’t live without. What’s next for science and society at large?
  • Election 2024: CU «Ƶ has a long history of civic engagement. In the 2020 presidential election, more than 80% of CU students voted. What issues will drive the student vote in 2024? 41 million members of Gen Z are eligible to vote (18-27).
  • New Chancellor’s First Move-in: Chancellor Dr. Justin Schwartz joined CU «Ƶ as the new chancellor on July 1. He will be assisting students with move-in and has availability for interviews Aug. 19, 11-noon.

Interviewing students

  • Reporters are encouraged to speak with any consenting students, family and others during move-in and Fall Welcome events.
  • Media members are prohibited from entering residence halls without prior permission from Strategic Media Relations, even if a student invites you in.
  • Contact Strategic Media Relations before visiting campus to request residence hall permission.

Traffic impacts

  • The move-in process is spread out over several days and is based on student selected move-in appointments. This eases the moving process for students and lessens the traffic impact in and around «Ƶ. People driving to or around «Ƶ should expect increased traffic throughout the week of Aug. 19.
  • Reporters and photographers should allow extra time to arrive on campus and locate parking.
  • Members of the public should be advised that US-36, Baseline Road, Broadway and Arapahoe Avenue in the areas around campus often have additional traffic throughout the move-in process.
  • Families are encouraged to use the “move-in” layer of the campus map. Families are advised to approach campus from the east via Baseline Road.
  • Big box stores (e.g. Target at 28th and Pearl Streets) and grocery stores near campus can also be busier than usual as students pick up furniture or stock up on groceries and other essential items.
