Deborah Viles works in the Office of Undergraduate Education as Assistant to the Vice Provost and Vice Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor, where she has two primary roles. In her role as Director of the Office of Top Scholarships, Deborah works with students applying for nationally prestigious scholarships, like the Rhodes, the Truman, the Goldwater, and others. She advises students through the process from beginning to end, from identifying and publicizing opportunities, to providing feedback on application essays, to conducting practice interviews. Our students bring an amazing wealth of experience and achievement to the process.
As Assessment Coordinator for the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus, Deborah works closely with the Assessment Oversight Committee to encourage every campus department and unit to improve their programs through good assessment practice. The university is committed to making sure our students have the best experience possible while they are here, and assessment helps ensure we're providing just that.
Deborah came to the Office of Undergraduate Education from the Program for Writing and Rhetoric, where she taught for many years and then moved to the administrative side as the Program Assistant. She's worked on campus for more than 25 years. She earned her M.A. from CU in English Literature, Creative Writing.Â
When she's not working you might find Deborah singing in Resonance Women's Chorus, playing her clarinet, hiking, reading almost anything, or baking something decadent in her kitchen.
