Sarah Banchefsky in the news
CU Psychology and Neuroscience postdoctoral researcher (and recent CU PhD) Sarah Banchefsky (Social) was in the news, with articles appearing in the Colorado Arts & Sciences Magazine and the Denver Post about some recent research. The research, done in collaboration with former CU graduate student Jake Westfall (now a postdoc at UT-Austin), and Professors Bernadette Park and Chick Judd, examined the relationship between gender, physical appearance, and how likely a given person (presented as a photograph) was judged to be a member of a particular occupation. Photographs of women that had been rated as more feminine were judged less likely to be scientists, whereas there was no impact of gendered appearance on judgments of occupation about men.
