K-12 students to present on campus about immigration, youth homelessness, animal rights (April 2016)

On April 19, K-12 students from ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ and Lafayette will present their year-long projects on the topics of immigration, youth homelessness, animal rights and more. The presentation, which is a partnership between CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's Public Achievement initiative and BVSD, was held at the Glenn Miller Ballroom, at the UMC. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.

Students from Creekside Elementary School, Columbine Elementary School, Angevine Middle School and Centaurus High School will share the work they have done alongside their undergraduate Public Achievement coaches. Together, they identified school and community-based social justice issues and compiled a variety of research, service and social change projects. Come and hear their presentations and engage in conversations about their work and impact.

is a youth led civic engagement initiative that seeks to promote student voice and transformative social change.  At CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, undergraduates serve as PA coaches alongside K-12 students in ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ and Lafayette. Together they participate in a year-long cycle of inquiry an action around school and community based social justice issues.  All participants gain insight on community leadership, the foundations of social change, and the power of relationships.
