Project management process

Student Affairs departments seeking project management assistance can .

Projects can be submitted by the project sponsor or the owner(s), who are the director(s) or unit leader(s) ultimately responsible for the project.

Once a project has been submitted, the project managers will review and schedule an initial scoping meeting. Project managers then work with the project owner(s) to gather key information, draft initial documentation and launch the project.

As you think about potential projects, consider the following:

  • Project name
  • Project narrative—the “why” of the project and what will be done
  • Cabinet sponsor who will approve the project
  • Ideal start and end date
  • Funding—is funding needed or has funding already been secured?
