With about 20,000 people expected to attend University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ commencement exercises May 16 at 9:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium, carpooling and alternative transportation are recommended for anyone planning to be on campus.

The Hop shuttle and RTD buses will be on regular schedules that day.

Visitors are advised to arrive early because many parking spaces will be occupied by staff and faculty during regular working hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the first day of summer hours.

To ease the parking shortage, regular permit holders in four lots have been asked to park in alternative locations. Affected lots are 360 next to Duane Physics, 378 next to Folsom Stadium, 390 behind Dal Ward Athletic Center and 391 northeast of the stadium. Permit holders in lots 360 and 378 may park on Franklin Field or lot 358 next to Libby and Brackett Halls on May 16 only.

Staff and faculty who have permits for people with disabilities in the four affected lots will not be asked to park their vehicles elsewhere.

Parking also will be allowed on the football practice field off Folsom Street just north of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Creek, weather permitting.

Commencement parking for the elderly and disabled will be in lots 360 and 378 with drop off and pickup at the southeast side of the stadium on Colorado Avenue. No parking permits are required and anyone with special needs should inform the parking attendants that close-in parking is required.

People in wheelchairs should enter the stadium at gate 1 next to Balch Fieldhouse to be seated on a platform near the press box or along the concourse.

Most of the parking spaces available to visitors will be in lot 436 north of the Coors Events/Conference Center and the Regent Drive Autopark on Regent Drive near Colorado Avenue. Parking will be free at all metered spaces, but regular fees will be charged for the Euclid Avenue Autopark and lot 306 on Regent Drive.

Congestion is expected to ease after about 11:30 a.m. when the ceremony ends.
