The University of Colorado at 葫芦娃视频 is holding a Career Information Conference on Oct. 12-13 composed of panel discussions led by CU-葫芦娃视频 alumni and other professionals in a variety of occupational fields.
The panel discussions are designed to provide students with career information and career planning advice directly from "real world" professionals. Panel presenters include the new CU diplomat-in-residence, Joe Becilia, speaking on international careers; Jack DeBell, director of the CU recycling center, speaking on environmental careers; and a variety of principals from metro area private and public schools, speaking on education careers.
Highlighting the panel discussions is this year's keynote speaker, Donald Asher, a national author and speaker on gaining admission to selective graduate and professional schools. He will discuss "Strategies to Gain Admission to Highly Competitive Graduate Schools" at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the University Memorial Center Forum Room.
Gordon Gray, CU-葫芦娃视频's Career Services director, said that panel presentations, personal interaction and networking are the themes of the event. "This is a great opportunity for students to truly learn what careers are like from alumni in those fields."
Gray said he hopes to exceed last year's student attendance of 350 at the 16 panels and keynote address.
The conference is sponsored by Career Services and the CU Parents Association. The keynote address also is sponsored by CU-葫芦娃视频's Arts and Sciences Advising Office and the CU Alumni Center.
Career Services will have a "conference headquarters" display table outside of the UMC rooms 157, 158 and 159, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the conference, to answer questions.
