The Office of Diversity and Equity at the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ has selected six faculty recipients of two fellowship programs for the fall semester, according to Associate Vice Chancellor Ofelia Miramontes.
There are four winners of the Implementation of Multicultural Perspectives and Approaches in Research and Teaching grants and two winners of the Big 12 Faculty Fellowships.
IMPART awardees are Asuncion Horno-Delgado of the department of Spanish and Portuguese, Suzanne Magnanini of French and Italian and Kay Miller and Yumi Janairo Roth, both of fine arts.
The Big 12 Faculty Fellows are George H. Born of aerospace engineering and Eric Willcutt of the psychology department.Ìý
The goal of the IMPART program is to further develop a campus environment that supports and encourages gender, ethnic and cultural diversity in approaches to scholarly work and teaching.
Awards of up to $4,000 are given to faculty or academic units to support research, scholars and colloquia having an academic and multiethnic or multicultural theme, or for expansion of the undergraduate curriculum in the area of ethnic and gender diversity.Ìý
Each institution in the Big 12 conference has established six annual faculty fellowships of $2,500. The recipients spend two weeks in residence at another Big 12 institution to do research or creative work, collaborate on curriculum development or other educational projects, consult with colleagues and students, offer lectures or engage in other professional activities. Born and Willcutt will be fellows at the University of Texas.
Requests for proposals for both the IMPART grants and the Big 12 Faculty Fellowships are announced each fall and spring semester. The Vice Chancellor's Awards and Grants Advisory Committee screens the applications and recommends the awardees.
