October’s monthly Brown Bag series will feature a presentation by Patrick Warwick-Diaz, Clery compliance and crime analyst with the CU Police Department, on Clery compliance. The presentation will be held on Monday, Oct. 24, from noon to 1 p.m. at The Rec.

As a federal law signed in 1990, the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, commonly referred to as the Clery Act, sets forth requirements for colleges and universities around disclosure of campus crime activity and security policies in an annual report. In addition, the law requires campuses provide “timely warnings” and ongoing disclosures for certain types of criminal activity. With any law, there are requirements we as a university must do to be in compliance. In his presentation, Patrick will cover thehistory behind the Clery Act, the requirements the law places on our community and what occurs if we are out of compliance. He will also highlight “how we do Clery” at CU «Ƶ. For our campus community, our goal is: "the Clery Act is about people, not paper."Attendees will also gain insight into their individual responsibilities, particularly if considered a Campus Security Authority (CSA), and how each of us on-campus can be in support of the campus requirements.

During the hour session, ample time will be provided for audience Q&A.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to participate in networking with other attendees and are welcome to bring their lunch. Light refreshments will be provided.
