Greetings all! Spring is in the air this week and I hope you’re enjoying the imminent change of season. There is a particularly international flavor to this week’s array of events, so get out and make the most of it. I am Sarah Ellsworth: IPHY major, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ native, and event connoisseur, writing to you from the comfort of beautiful CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ on all of your weekly opportunities for community involvement, educational whatnot and supreme fun.

Conference on World Affairs.ÌýIt’s that time of year again: time to hear opinionated expert panelists discuss important contemporary global issues in a very popular and always much enjoyed public lecture series. Check out the online schedule to decide what fascinating issues you’d like to learn more about and what performances you want to catch. All events are free and open to the public.

Tuesday, April 11

Blended burger demo with Iron Chef Jehangir Mehta.ÌýJoin the awesome former Iron Chef Jehangir Mehta and The Mushroom Council for a free cooking demo on blended mushroom burgers. There will be teaching and tasting and an education in cooking sustainably at the Village Center DiningÌýfrom 5 to 7:30 p.m.Ìýand in the C4C (April 12) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Don’t miss out on some good food!

Staff Council Blood Drive.ÌýEvery once in a while, I like to feature a blood drive and ask all of you lovely people to pluck up the courage to do something wonderful and give blood. The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Campus Staff Council will be holding a blood drive in Studio 2 of the Rec Center from 9 to 2:30 today, tomorrow, and the day after. So swing by, do some good, and then celebrate your bravery with a well-earned snack.

Salsa Night.ÌýJoin the International Student and Scholars Program for an evening of instruction in the classically beautiful from of Latin dance: Salsa! This dance class will be free and open to all in UMC 235 from 6:30 to 8 this evening. No partner or salsa dancing experience is required so come and make some new friends.

Herrin withÌýVonce andÌýPedze.ÌýSwing down around Club 156Ìýfor a free concert courtesy of musical groups Herrin, Vonce, and Pedze, who throw down some funky, catchy, groovy tunes. Take a listen to their SoundCloud pages on the website for a taste of these talented musicians’ sounds. Doors open at 8 p.m. so don’t be late.

Branch Out Yoga.ÌýWhether you’re a seasoned yogi or thusly yoga-ignorant, this is for you. Come by the Dennis Small Cultural Center in UMC 457Ìýfrom 6 to 7:30 p.m. for some instruction in the traditions, cultural influences and spiritual practices entwined in the history of the practice of yoga. Mats will be provided at this free event and everyone is invited.

Panaderia withÌýThe Corner Girls and Xenon Superstar.ÌýClub 156 brings you yet another free concert this week with some soulful, Latin-influenced, punk-meets-pop tunes brought to you by Panaderia along with their friends The Corner Girls and Xenon Superstar. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and you must bring your best dance moves.

TedX CU.ÌýTed Talks come to CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ tonight in Macky Auditorium from 5 to 9pm. In these public mini-lectures, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ superstars will share their passions, educate their fellows, spark new interests, and entertain the masses. Tickets start at $10 and are available to all who want to share this broadening experience with the CU and local ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ communities.

Nepal Night.ÌýNepal Night is a ton of fun and always a huge hit with food, music, dance, and abundant Nepalese Culture. This annual celebration takes place at 6pm in the Glenn Miller Ballroom and is open to all those with a BuffOneCard. Don’t miss out on this beautiful evening of Nepali influence and fun.

International Festival.ÌýCome to the Glenn Miller Ballroom today from 5 to 8:30 pm for a global experience of food, performance, games, and a varied and extensive showcase of world cultures. Every year IFest is a huge event that draws tons of people all looking to enjoy foreign cultures and eat lots of food and meet new people, all for free. Everyone is welcome!
