This may not be how you envisioned the start of your first year as a Buff, but we are so excited that you’re here. We have been working hard over the summer to create a COVID-ready experience and for students to return to campus. Thank you for your patience, feedback and input to help us achieve this goal—without you, there is no us.

So many aspects of our lives have changed in the last six months. Despite these changes, and with your help, we have learned how to adapt and move forward. Even though we’re navigating around a pandemic, you will still receive a world class education at this university. You will still meet new friends and get involved with fellow Buffs through student organizations, volunteering and other opportunities. And you will still have access to support services and help if you need it.

Whether you’re looking to improve your health and well-being, figuring out what you want to do in the future or need help with resolving conflict, theÌýDivision of Student Affairs has a variety of resources to support you.Ìý

Change can bring up many emotions, and it can take time to adjust. With classes starting next week, you may feel excited, nervous, curious, scared—or a mix of all of these. Whatever you’re feeling right now is normal, and you are not alone. During times of change, it’s important to show up. Show up when times are fantastic and when times are challenging. Show up with your best self in mind. Everyone handles change and adjusts to new situations differently. Think about what you need and be comfortable with asking questions. Always, always remember that we got you—through all of this.ÌýÌý

As we continue to adjust to changes and the evolving pandemic, we need your help. In order to remain on campus and have a successful fall semester, we all need to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This virus still poses significant risks to our community. We all have a personal responsibility to look out for each other and be diligent in following public health orders—both on and off campus. Wear your face coverings, keep your distance from others, do what you can toÌýProtect Our Herd and help keep each other and ourselves safe.

I’m here for you, and I’m so happy we get to start this new academic year together. Take care of yourselves, take care of each other and remember that you are a Buff wherever you are.
