As we move further into the fall semester, I want to thank you. I am truly appreciative of those who have been showing up for their fellow Buffs by following public health orders with our return to campus.
These last few months have not been easy for many of us. You all have been adapting to many changes in your daily lives as we continue to navigate around a pandemic. Following public health orders, like wearing a face covering and staying at least 6 feet away from others, are one more thing to get used to as we begin a new semester and I appreciate your effort.
I know it can be tough to run into old classmates and friends and not be able to see their faces. I know it can be challenging to turn down an invite to hang out with a large group of your peers. I know it can be hard to keep your face covering on when others around you have taken theirs off. But every time you make the decision to wear your face covering and stay physically distanced from others, you are helping to keep our campus community safe and allowing us to continue learning and working on campus.
Adjusting to a new normal can take time, and everyone’s adjustment process is different. As we all continue to navigate change in our own ways, there are many resources and services to help support you. If you’re looking for something to do or a safe way to meet fellow Buffs,Ìýcheck out our fall events. If you’re looking for a place to study or watch a lecture on Zoom, try these study spots on campus. If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, please reach out to Counseling and Psychiatric Services or Student Support and Case Management. If you’re upset with your roommate, Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution can help.
And if you aren’t sure what you need, I’m here for you. I, along with Assistant Dean of Students Devin Cramer, will haveÌýpop-up office hours in the UMC and the Village Center this semester. No need to make an appointment; just stop by during our designated office hours to chat.
Thank you again for your efforts. We are Buffs together, and let’s make this a great semester.
