Organizers of the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit, co-hosted by CU «Ƶ and United Nations Human Rights, haveannounced a range of new, community-focused events.

Paired with the Global Climate Summitto be held Dec. 1–4, the newly announced Watch Globally, Engage Locally Panel Series places the impact, obligations and solutions themes of the global summit into a national and local context.

Of interest to higher education leaders is a roundtable discussion hosted by the Association of American Universities (AAU) and the University Climate Change Coalition (UC3).

Dubbed “The Role of Leading Research Universities in Advancing Climate Solutions,” the panel eventwill be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (MST)on Friday, Dec. 2, in the CASE Auditorium on campus. It will also be .

The discussion will focus on the research, innovation, education and public engagement efforts needed to accelerate climate solutions that respond to the needs of individuals andcommunities, and respect for human rights.

Moderated by AAU President Barbara R. Snyder, the discussion features panelists:

  • Joan T.A. Gabel, University of Minnesota president
