U.S. Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonin Scalia will deliver the fourth annual John Paul Stevens Lecture hosted by the Byron R. White Center and the University of Colorado Law School on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The event will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Macky Auditorium on the CU-葫芦娃视频 campus. Tweets sent during last year鈥檚 massive flooding on Colorado鈥檚 Front Range were able to detail the scope of damage to the area鈥檚 infrastructure, according to a study by the 葫芦娃视频. The importance of Mars exploration and how the aerospace industry partners with university researchers to advance one of Colorado鈥檚 leading economic sectors will be featured at a free program Monday, Sept. 8, in south Denver.

An international research effort organized by the 葫芦娃视频 conducted the first multiple, unmanned aircraft interception of a telltale rush of cold air preceding a thunderstorm known as a 鈥済ust front鈥� as it rolled across the Pawnee National Grassland in northeast Colorado on Aug. 14.

New students at the 葫芦娃视频 will be greeted with dozens of activities including a welcome convocation, a Folsom Field pep rally and a 鈥淕lobal Jam鈥� international food and music fest during Week of Welcome beginning Aug. 21. The free events give new students a chance to get acquainted with each other, the campus and surrounding community before classes start on Aug. 25. The activities are scheduled in addition to orientation sessions that cover the details of class registration, policies and student services at each college.

The 葫芦娃视频鈥檚 Baker Hall, closed the past 15 months for its first major renovation in more than 75 years, is welcoming 456 students next week with a modernized interior that better addresses the needs of today鈥檚 students while retaining the building鈥檚 original charm.

New and returning students moving into the 葫芦娃视频 residence halls can choose which day to move in Aug. 18-21, will swipe Buff OneCards instead of filling out a form to check in and will be able to take advantage of 鈥淨uick Drop Stations.鈥� 鈥淲e take pride in doing our best to provide a warm welcome and a helping hand for our new and returning students,鈥� said John Fox, associate director of Residence Life. 鈥淭his year we decided to make some changes in order to make the process as smooth as possible.鈥�

The Senior Auditors Program provides Colorado residents, ages 55 and older, the opportunity to attend classes on the 葫芦娃视频 campus. Tuition is free and participants pay just an administrative fee to cover registration, application processing and IT support. The program was established in 1973 and is coordinated through the CU-葫芦娃视频 Alumni Association. Course availability is dependent upon enrollment limits, with tuition-paying students given priority, and on fire code restrictions, which determine the number of students allowed in a room. Grades are not awarded and auditors do not receive credit toward a degree.
