Staff Council Update: Annual event honors retirees, years of service

On Tuesday, May 3, long-serving members of the «Ƶ campus staff and their guests joined Chancellor Philip DiStefano and members of Staff Council in the Glenn Miller Ballroom to be honored for their service to campus.

On-campus Open Enrollment benefits sessions May 5

Open Enrollment Sessions and Fairs will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 5 in the UMC's Glenn Miller Ballroom. Open Enrollment ends at 5 p.m. May 13. Sessions for faculty and staff will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. with a retiree session running from 11 a.m. to noon. An Open Enrollment Fair, featuring plan providers, will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

HR Corner: 'Managers Academy: Employee Management and Compliance Essentials'

CU-«Ƶ Human Resources invites campus supervisors, managers and leaders to attend the redesigned "Managers Academy: Employee Management and Compliance Essentials" (previously "Managing the CU-«Ƶ Way") May 17-18. This program is offered free of charge to CU-«Ƶ employees. Space is limited and sessions are filling up fast.

Future plans for wages on the «Ƶ campus

At the April Board of Regents meeting, Chancellor DiStefano and Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer Kelly Fox proposed a 2 percent merit pool for classified staff and university staff. CU-«Ƶ Today sat down with Chancellor DiStefano and discussed how the approval of this merit pool is part of a larger effort towards equitable wages on the «Ƶ campus.

Construction on the Baseline underpass to start next week

Construction of the new Baseline Road pedestrian and bicycle underpass is scheduled to start Monday, April 25. Phase one will see off-peak delays, beginning after 8:30 a.m. and ending before 3:30 p.m. Phase two, beginning in June, will see significant traffic impacts.

Planning ahead for Move-In 2016

Last fall, CU-«Ƶ implemented a new move-in process to reduce traffic and impact on the community while ensuring the first experience incoming families and students have at the university is a positive one. The new plan succeeded in its goals, but changed “business as usual” on campus. CU-«Ƶ Today talked with the teams who are planning Fall 2016 Move-In to get an update on this year’s event, scheduled to begin the evening of Aug. 16 and continue through Aug. 17 and 18.

Spring CU-«Ƶ Alerts test set for March 30

The «Ƶ will test the CU-«Ƶ Alerts system at noon on Wednesday, March 30. The test will include text messages, emails, social media and website announcements. This spring’s test will also be the first small-scale test of the campus’ new Alertus desktop notification tool. Annual testing of emergency notification systems is required by the Clery Act, a federal law.

The Office of Organizational and Employee Development (OED) invites CU-«Ƶ employees to attend the CU Grow Management and Leadership Series spring and summer sessions. Programs are offered free of charge to CU-«Ƶ employees. The series provides CU-«Ƶ supervisors, managers and leaders with current, influential and critical topics in the fields of management and leadership.
