The American Chemical Society has named University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Professor Emeritus Charles DePuy winner of the James Flack Norris Award in Physical Organic Chemistry in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field. DePuy received the prestigious award during the American Chemical Society National Meeting, held April 7 to April 11 in Orlando, Fla.

CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ School of Law Professor Barbara Bintliff will receive the Clifford Calhoun Public Service Award on April 26 in recognition of her contributions to the law school and the legal community. The award was established by an anonymous donor in 1998 in honor of CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ emeritus law Professor Clifford Calhoun, who retired in May of that year. The award is given to those who exemplify the spirit and tradition of Calhoun's altruistic career.

ITLL Design Expo To Showcase Student Inventions, Assistive Technology, Robotics

A collapsible skateboard that fits inside a backpack, a customized wheelchair for a child with cerebral palsy, and an assortment of electromechanical robots will be among the more than 70 student-built engineering projects featured at the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory's Spring Design Expo on Saturday, April 27. The Design Expo is a popular, educational event for families and an opportunity for K-12 students to learn about engineering in a university setting. It also is the highlight of the semester for more than 300 undergraduates.

Nine University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ students will be honored at an April 29 banquet for the winners of the third annual Western American Writing Awards presented by the university's Center of the American West. Gerald Ronning, Reynaldo Reyes III, Chesney Kathryn Dougherty, Brett J. Marraccini and Carolyn Hilton will each receive $350 first prize awards. Noel Bauer, Alanna Van Antwerp, and the duo of Catherine Malek and Matthew Hoke will get honorable mention awards of $25.

The new members are Jimmy Calano, Nora Feeley, Paul Jerde, Jerry McMorris and Clay Timon. These accomplished executives from a variety of professional backgrounds will bring a wealth of experience as they advise the school's administration, Manaster said.
