CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's "Science Squad" Working With Denver Area Schools

A team of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers from the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ has taken its expertise on the road again to Denver area schools in an effort to help spark interest in the sciences. Dubbed the "Science Squad," the five CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ participants lead hands-on science activities with K-12 students, help teachers set up laboratories and workshops and serve as mentors to the students.

Early Team Sign-Ups Herald Success Of Trivia Bowl Return

As of March 7, 40 teams have signed up for the return of CU's Trivia Bowl, the largest number of early entries in the 25-year history of the bowl. "In previous years we would get perhaps 15 early applications," said JC Ancell, associate director of the University Memorial Center and senior advisor to the University of Colorado Student Union's Program Council.

Outrageous Team Names Part Of Trivia Bowl Tradition

For 25 years the CU Trivia Bowl has carried on an infamous and fun tradition, with names of the competing teams ranging from the ridiculous to the scandalous, and perfectly reflecting the culture of the day. This year's competition carries on the tradition with team names ranging from Einstein's Illegitimate Children, and Could You Repeat the Question? to Guys Interrupted and The Sixth Sequel.

Trivia Bowl Promotion In UMC Dining Area To Preview April Event

Several pre-bowl events are scheduled this month in preparation for the return of CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's Trivia Bowl April 2-6, including mock Trivia Bowls March 13 and 21 and a seeding test March 18 to match teams competitively for the five-day bowl. On March 13 and March 21, the University of Colorado Student Union's Program Council will preview the fun and excitement of the Trivia Bowl with mock bowls in the University Memorial Center dining area across from Baby Doe's.

Experts Discuss Corporate Openness Of Companies' Environmental Risks

Two legal scholars will hold a forum on "Corporate Disclosure of Environmental Risks," at noon March 12, in room 294 of the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's School of Law. The forum, supported by the university's Natural Resources Law Center, will feature Robert Repetto of the University of Colorado at Denver and Cynthia Williams from the Georgetown University Law Center. Both will discuss research regarding corporations' disclosures to investors of their companies' environmental risks.

Colorado Court Of Appeals To Hear Arguments At CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Law School

The Colorado Court of Appeals will hear arguments in the Lindsley Memorial Courtroom at the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ School of Law March 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students will get a chance to hear oral arguments, ask the presiding judges questions and attend a reception afterward in the Moorhead-Rutledge Lounge. "This is a unique opportunity for students to ask the participants questions since that chance almost never comes up once students get into practice," said James B. Levy, a legal writing instructor at the law school.

10th U.S. Circuit Court Of Appeals To Hear Arguments At CU Law School

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments at the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ School of Law on March 13 in the Lindsley Memorial Courtroom from 9 a.m. to noon. Students will get a chance to hear oral arguments in numerous cases, including the Joseluis Saenz v. Department of Interior case on possession of eagle feathers, whose brief was authored by CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ law student Laranne Arbaugh under the supervision of former Indian Law Clinic director Jerilyn DeCoteau.

CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Situation Comedy Class To Perform In Front Of Live Audience

On March 10-11, 36 university students enrolled in a situation comedy course will perform and video tape an episode of NBC's popular show "Friends" before a live audience at CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's Irey Stage in the University Theatre. This is the class's third year but the first time a show will be taped in front of an audience. Taping on Saturday is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The public is invited to watch the show.
