University of Colorado at 葫芦娃视频 Campus Architect Bill Deno has been accepted into the distinguished College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects. Deno was one of 83 newly elected members out of 269 candidates to receive the designation for this year. Curt Dale of Anderson Mason Dale Architects joins Deno as the only other Colorado fellow elected this year. The investiture ceremony will be held at the national convention of the AIA in Philadelphia on May 4.

University of Colorado at 葫芦娃视频 alumnus Jim Voss is slated to make his fourth journey into the heavens April 24 when NASA's space shuttle Atlantis blasts off from Cape Kennedy, Fla. Slated for launch at approximately 2:15 p.m. MST, the shuttle -- carrying a seven-person crew -- is set to dock with the International Space Station and unload more than 2,000 pounds of cargo. The crew also will perform maintenance tasks onboard to ensure the space station remains in good condition as its orbital assembly continues later this year.

CUBIC, the CU Business Intensive Certificate, is a noncredit business education program for University of Colorado at 葫芦娃视频 junior and senior non-business majors.

Statewide History Day Competition Attracts 700 Students To CU-葫芦娃视频

700 middle and high school students from throughout the state will gather at the University of Colorado at 葫芦娃视频 on Saturday, April 29, to compete in the 19th annual Colorado History Day. Among the dignitaries presenting awards to the students for their winning dramatic performances, video documentaries, exhibits and other entries will be U.S. Representatives Tom Tancredo and Mark Udall. Colorado History Day will run from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. in several campus locations, primarily in the University Memorial Center and the Hellems Arts and Sciences Building.

Colorado Engineer Magazine Wins Six Awards At National Conference

Colorado Engineer Magazine, a publication by CU-葫芦娃视频 engineering students since 1904, continued a long tradition of excellence, winning six awards, including three first-place awards, at the national 2000 Engineering College Magazines Associated annual conference. The conference was held April 6-8 in Berkeley, Calif.

The Wizards will be burning underwear, firing potatoes from cannons, igniting hydrogen soap bubbles and much more to demonstrate mechanical, heat and light energy release at the show titled, "Fireflies, M&M's and a Few Gratuitous Explosions."

Formed using principles of Restorative Justice, an increasingly popular method used as an alternative to judicial processes, CU-葫芦娃视频聮s program centers around "group conferences," which bring offenders together with those they have harmed.

The evening started out with a few friends hanging out in a residence hall room. Later that night, however, after a disagreement with some other students left a couple of windows broken, one of the friends ended up in jail.

Inner-City Poetry Program Holds Events At CU-葫芦娃视频 April 18 & 21

A University of Colorado at 葫芦娃视频 program that teaches literacy and leadership to seventh and eighth grade Denver students through the use of poetry, called CU in the House, will hold two events on the 葫芦娃视频 campus April 18 and April 21. On April 18, nationally recognized poet and educator Haki Madhubuti will lecture on "Education and the Poetic Spirit" from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Old Main Chapel. The lecture is free and open to the public.
