Nearly 500 middle school students from Angevine Middle School in Lafayette are heading to the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ on April 27 and 28 to get a taste of college life. The sixth- and seventh-graders will do hands-on science projects, visit the CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Museum of Natural History, participate in dance workshops, and watch a rousing theater production about the U.S. Presidents. Faculty and staff from the museum, Science Discovery, the Partnerships for Informal Science Education in the Community, and the Department of Theatre and Dance will be leading the sessions.

Each month, CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's Environmental Center provides eco-tips with the goal of promoting sustainable choices. March's topic is green travel.

The natural beauty of the Flatirons has long been revered, and has become a symbol of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ both on post cards and in people’s memories, as well as a symbol of CU itself.

Sabrina Sideris, program director of CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's INVST Community Studies, takes great pride in working with CU students to help them learn to become engaged citizens and leaders. In fact, she was once one of those students. Sideris became interested in community-based learning and social justice when she was a CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ undergraduate (1996-2000).

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, the City of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ and the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Climate Culture Collaborative (C3 ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ) are sponsoring a climate challenge aimed at engaging ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ youth in efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that drive climate change.

As a CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ sophomore, Joseph Arehart found himself seeking an avenue through which he could have an impact on the world. The fourth-year student, who is working toward a concurrent Master's and Bachelor's degree in architectural and civil engineering, reflects on his experience working with the student organization Bridges to Prosperity.

Is breakdancing your thing? Or perhaps astronomy or hiking? Learn more about the clubs and organizations that make up the CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ community during the Spring Student Involvement Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom.

Spectators at home basketball games will be prompted to text a pledge to conserve water a s part of CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's new Water for the West campaign. For every pledge received, CU Athletics will restore 1,000 gallons of water to the Colorado River Basin through a partnership with the Change the Course initiative.

On Jan. 26, the CU Advocates program and the University of Colorado’s Office of Government Relations hosted the 2016 CU Advocacy Day at the State Capitol. Attendees received updates on the university’s recent educational, research and economic contributions. Lawmakers and CU officials also briefed advocates on CU’s legislative priorities, higher education’s funding outlook for this year and Colorado’s budget situation.
