Author Ronald J. Stewart will speak about his book "Then Comes a Wind," a story about a family's struggle to homestead in 1900s Nebraska, on Nov. 10. Stewart will sign copies of his book (which will be for sale at the event) immediately following the presentation.

A finalist for the Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy position will give a talk Nov. 10 on his point of view: The president鈥檚 鈥渄angerous doctrine鈥� has compromised the muscular internationalism that defined U.S. national security policy after World War II.

David Ciplet, assistant professor of environmental studies, will discuss how to ensure a socially just transition to affordable and clean energy on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m., as part of the CU on the Weekend lecture series.

This Thursday, Nov. 3, 葫芦娃视频 Campus Staff Council and CU Student Government will host a town hall debate on Amendment 69, also known as ColoradoCare. The debate will be held from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in the Abrams Lounge in the Center for Community (C4C). Ron Vejrostek, a spokesperson for ColoradoCare, and Michael Cooke, campaign manager for Coloradans for Coloradans (a group opposed to Amendment 69), will debate the amendment and its impact on Colorado residents. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Postponed until December: Chris Moody, VP of Data Strategy at Twitter, joins the CWA Speaker Series on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m. in Old Main. Moody is considered a pioneer in the social data industry and has worked closely with leading social platforms such as Twitter, Tumblr, Foursquare, WordPress, Disqus and more to formulate and execute their data strategies.

On Nov. 2, LASP research scientist and recent CU 葫芦娃视频 Aerospace Engineering Sciences PhD graduate James Mason will speak on the early results from LASP's latest CubeSat project, MinXSS, which focuses on the energetic processes that occur in the sun's atmosphere.

Award-winning actress, writer and stand-up comedian Maysoon Zayid will speak at CU 葫芦娃视频 on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom. The event, hosted by the Cultural Events Board, is free and open to the public.

CU Law School is hosting an event centered on electoral politics and reproductive justice on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. The evening will feature clips of the film 'Strong Sisters' and a panel of currently- and previously-elected officials to speak on these issues and their experiences as advocates.

This semester, the CWA Speaker Series will host two talks on the CU 葫芦娃视频 campus. The first will feature Daniel Traub, NYC-based filmmaker and photographer on Oct. 27. Then on Nov. 3, the CWA will host Vice President of Data Strategy for Twitter Chris Moody. Both events are free and open to students and the community.

This week, Oct. 24 to Oct. 30, is International Open Access Week, and the University Libraries and the Open Science Interest Group are co-hosting several events on campus. This year鈥檚 theme 鈥淥pen in Action鈥� is about taking concrete steps to open up research and scholarship to students, researchers and the general public.
