Alumnus Mike Wirth named Vice Chairman of Chevron Corporation
Alumnus Mike Wirth has been named vice chairman of Chevron Corporation effective Feb. 1, 2017.
Wirth, a 1982 chemical engineering graduate, joined Chevron the same year as a design engineer. He advanced through a number of engineering, construction and operations positions before becoming executive vice president of Midstream and Development.
"As a senior officer of Chevron, Mike has made significant contributions to the company’s success," John S. Watson, Chevron’s chairman and chief executive officer, said in an announcement. "Mike's experience, proven leadership and record of accomplishment will enable him to make a strong contribution to our board."
In his new role, Wirth will join the company’s Board of Directors and add policy, government & public affairs to his existing responsibilities.
Wirth frequently returns to campus to speak to classes and to serve as chairman of the CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Engineering Advisory Council. He received the college's Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award in 2010 and the University Medal in 2014.
