The CMCI college processes for reappointment/comprehensive review, tenure, and promotion of tenure tenured/tenure-track faculty differ only with regard to timeline. In all cases, the following steps are required:

  1. CMCI Faculty Affairs will create an electronic dossier folder for each candidate containing the VCAC checklist and corresponding instructions for naming files added to the dossier. The folder will be maintained on the CMCI Faculty Affairs Microsoft Office 365 One Drive. Each folder will be shared with the appropriate department administrator(s) and will be accessible only with IdentiKey authentication. The administrator(s) will be responsible for uploading all VCAC required dossier materials to the folder and applying the appropriate naming convention to each document (see appendix 1 below).
  2. Once all VCAC required materials have been added to the dossier and BEFORE the Primary Unit Evaluation Committee (PUEC) conducts its formal review of the dossier, the administrator must inform CMCI Faculty Affairs that the dossier is ready to be reviewed for completeness and policy compliance before advancing to its first stage of review.
  3. Once CMCI Faculty Affairs has confirmed that the dossier is complete and ready for review, the dossier will be provided to the PUEC for its review.
  4. Once the PUEC has completed its review and produced the “Statement of the PUEC,” the administrator must provide the “Statement” to CMCI Faculty Affairs for a brief review for process and policy compliance before it can be added to the dossier.
  5. Once CMCI Faculty Affairs has confirmed that the “Statement of the PUEC” satisfies necessary process and policy requirements, the “Statement” will be added to the dossier and the case will be presented to the primary unit for consideration and vote.
  6. When the unit has completed its review, the administrator should submit the “Chair’s Report” to CMCI Faculty Affairs for review and addition to the dossier.
    • At this time, the “Statement of the PUEC” and “The Chair’s Report” should be provided by the unit to the candidate.
  7. CMCI Faculty Affairs will coordinate with the CMCI Personnel Committee for their review of the dossier.
  8. Upon completion of their review, the Personnel Committee will deliver its “Statement of the Dean’s Review Committee” to CMCI Faculty Affairs for review and inclusion in the dossier.
  9. CMCI Faculty Affairs will coordinate with the Dean for their review of the dossier.
  10. Upon completion of their review, the Dean will deliver the “Dean’s Recommendation” to CMCI Faculty Affairs for review and inclusion in the dossier.
    • At this time, the “Statement of the Dean’s Review Committee” and the “Dean’s Recommendation” will be provided to the candidate by CMCI Faculty Affairs.
  11. CMCI Faculty Affairs will prepare and submit the electronic dossier to the CUB Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) for review and advancement to the Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Committee (VCAC).
  12. Once the VCAC has completed its review of the case, they will provide their advice to the Vice Chancellor and provide their letter directly to the candidate

  1. CMCI Faculty Affairs will create an electronic dossier folder for each Instructor Reappointment case. Each folder will be shared with the appropriate department administrator(s). Dossier materials vary by department according to their personnel policies and procedures documents. The administrator(s) will be responsible for identifying, collecting and uploading all necessary materials to the folder. In addition to the review materials required by the unit, the dossier should include the report of the Chair on the unit’s vote and the statement of the PUEC.
  2. When the unit has completed its review, the administrator(s) will notify CMCI Faculty Affairs at cmcifacultyaffairs@colorado.edu that the dossier is ready for the Dean’s review. At this time, the Chair should share the letters of review with the candidate.
  3. The Dean will provide a notification letter to the candidate and chair relaying their reappointment decision.
  4. CMCI Faculty Affairs will work with the department administrator(s) to draft and process reappointment offer letters.
