CMCI was founded amid change—an answer to how we could best organize the various communication- and information-related disciplines at CU ��«����Ƶ in ways that enabled faculty collaboration and student success.

This year, we’re celebrating the centennial of the Department of Journalism, established April 21,1922, by the Board of Regents. As we have explored archival documents dating to the 1920s, it’s been fun to go through photos and see the changes in technology (and fashion!) over the past 100 years.

As we in CMCI prepare for another fall semester, I want to share some updates about our campus, as well as a few stories about our alumni, students and faculty. 

CMCI was founded in 2015 at a moment of revolutionary change in the ways we communicate and see ourselves as a society. To mark the milestone of five years—cover to cover—this issue of CMCI Now features the designs, images and stories of over 25 students and recent alumni.

Here’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot this summer––and I’ve spoken to CMCI professors who are thinking about this, too. While the situation we’re in presents challenges, this is also an incredible time to be doing the work that we do.

As we enter our fifth year as a college, we’ve created new departments and centers, hired faculty from across the country and developed new academic programs. These changes have set up an environment for our students, alumni, faculty and staff to be confident and creative in an evolving world, and we’re continuing to move forward.
