What is Advising?

Academic Advising in the School of Education is a collaborative experience within a supportive community that nurtures the growth of our students with guidance and encouragement.

As Advisors, we are educators who specialize in teaching students how to discover the path to achieving their academic goals. By embracing critical perspectives in our teaching, advisors and students work collaboratively to co-create an inclusive learning environment where students are supported with guidance and encouragement. In doing so, we empower students with the resources and information needed to become proactive agents in their own educational success.

  • Seek advising help in a timely manner.
  • Read your CU email every day.
  • Be an actively engaged student.
  • Monitor deadlines in the Academic Calendar.
  • Review your checklist with your advisor each semester to track your degree progress.
