In-House Design Fabrication Lab

Submitting files, projects & materials
Environmental Design students will have access to submit their files, projects and materials to the CLC fabrication labs.

The CLC is expanding the stock of material for students to purchase. Students can select their material in PaperCut when submitting their job. PaperCut can be accessed through the .

The CLC is divided into five fabrication labs:

Student uses a tool at the wood shop

Wood Shop

The Wood Shop is equipped with an industrial dust collection system and a variety of power and hand tools.

  • Saw Stop Table Saw
  • Miter Saws (3)
  • Band Saws (3)
  • Panel Saw

Laser Lab

The Laser Lab houses four digitally controlled laser cutters for engraving and cutting a variety of materials up to ¼ inch in thickness. The DMC offers laser cutting training for all students. Students can submit their files through the PaperCut web service. Once the file has been approved it will be placed in the queue. PaperCut can be accessed through the .

Please allow 2-5 business days for execution. This will depend on the current load of project files. Typically, the laser lab will have the quickest turn around time.

  • 18" x 32" Universal Laser (3)
  • 24" x 36" Epilog Fusion Edge

3D Print Lab

This lab houses Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Resin (SLA) 3D printers for student use. There is no charge for 3D print time, however, there is a charge for material, which is calculated by the weight of the printed project. We have several colors and types of filament available.

Students can submit their files through the PaperCut web service as Rhinoceros 3D (.3dm) files, and will be reviewed by CLC staff. PaperCut can be accessed through the . Be sure to click on "Print Rooms/FabLabs" to submit your job, and that you have selected your pickup location. Once the file has been approved it will be placed in the queue.

Please allow 2-5 business days for execution. This will depend on the current load of project files.

CNC Milling Lab

The CNC Milling Lab houses CNC mills that are capable of 2 ½-axis profiling and 3-axis surfacing and 4-axis milling. These machines are operated by our Creative Labs managers. Students are required to submit a properly formatted Rhinoceros 3D file prior to scheduling a fabrication time. There is no charge for CNC router time, however, it is up to the student to purchase their own sheet material. Select options of high-grade plywood and MDF is available for sale in the Creative Labs Center.

Students will need to submit their files through the PaperCut web service. PaperCut can be access through the . Be sure to click on "Print Rooms/FabLabs" to submit your job, and that you have selected your pickup location. Once the file has been approved it will be placed in the queue.

Please allow 3-7 business days for execution. This will depend on the current load of project files. Typically, the CNC lab will have the longest turn around time.
