PhD student opportunity at CU Denver in hydrology/engineering
Opportunity: for motivated graduate students interested in pursuing MS or particularly PhD in the areas of environmental/ hydrologic engineering at University of Colorado Denver, Department of Civil Engineering.
Positions would begin Fall 2018 or Spring 2019.
Allison Goodwell research focus is on characterizing complex natural and human influenced systems. She uses information theory and network analysis methods to study resilience, sensitivity, and patterns in these complex systems under variable weather, climate, and land cover. A research topic may involve the following aspects:
· Studying resilience of ecosystems or water resources systems under changing conditions
· Understanding models in terms of how they incorporate time-dependent connectivity
· Assessing weather variability or ecosystem dynamics with new and creative techniques
· Analyzing spatial connectivity of ecohydrologic processes
· Other topics involving complex systems, ecohydrology, information theory, or resilience
Creative students with experience or interest in programming, statistics, models, spatial analysis, or critical zone science are particularly encouraged to inquire. Students will be encouraged to collaborate with other faculty and students at CU Denver and nearby research centers in the Front Range region. Interested students please contact directly at allison.goodwell@ucdenver.edu. Include a CV or resume and a short description of your background and research interests. The deadline for Fall 2018 applications is May 1 (April 15 international), but Allison Goodwell recommends any interested students to first contact me by late February to discuss potential funding opportunities.
